Abstract

The black campaign seized a lot of people's attention, especially in this political year. This is due to its considerable influence in influencing and creating public opinion to change the community mindset nearing the 2019 Presidential Election. This research will discuss how the role of intelligence in overcoming the development of black campaign hoaxes on social media ahead of the 2019 Presidential Election The discussion of this study is the theory of mass communication related to the impact of black campaign, Agenda Setting Theory related to the obstacles encountered, and the S-O-R Theory related to the role of intelligence that will be carried out in anticipation of the hoax. This research uses descriptive analysis method with a qualitative approach because of the expectation that the data obtained will be more complete, more profound, credible, and meaningful, so that the research objectives can be achieved. Based on this study, it can be concluded that the black campaign hoax on social media has become a tool and business for a separate group in seeking profits and influencing others, there needs to be serious handling by the relevant government agencies to overcome the problem so that it can reduce anxiety in the community line especially in this 2019 Presidential Election. There needs to be a formation related to media literacy, both socialization and educational curriculum so that the Indonesian people are able to analyze and sort out information regarding right and wrong information.
